Camelina: Seed to Oil Video

Created with SARE support
Lucas Bryce | 2013

This short documentary follows the story of the Batalden-Smith family, a three generation Minnesota family who grow and locally press organic Camelina Oil.

In 2010, the Batalden-Smith family received an NCR-SARE Farmer Rancher grant to assess the market demand for food-grade camelina oil, and examine the economic profitably of growing, processing, and selling edible camelina oil as an on-farm business venture. Shot on location in MN, this video shares their thoughts on bringing a new product to market, sustainable farming, the changing American diet, and their effort to lead a more fulfilling and simple life.
