NCR-SARE is pleased to welcome Pete Huff as the new regional director.
Huff most recently served as the director of the Wallace Center at Winrock International, where he led a portfolio of sustainable agriculture initiatives, including applied research and outreach projects, primarily in the North Central region. He oversaw numerous grant proposals, subawards, subcontracts, and grant-making processes each year, and throughout his career, has secured more than $50 million in funding and built strong partnerships with academia, nonprofits, private partners, and government agencies.
Prior to joining the Wallace Center, Huff served as the Director of Food Systems at the Minneapolis-based Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, and as an urban agriculture facilitator for the City of Yarra in Victoria, Australia. Huff holds a BA in history and a BS in environmental management from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He holds a master’s degree in Public Affairs from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
“It is an honor to join the NCR-SARE team in support of the farmers, ranchers, researchers, and educators working in this region,” said Huff. “In my first month, the vitality of SARE’s mission has become even clearer to me, and I look forward to doing everything I can to support the North Central region.”
Huff officially started on December 1, 2025, beginning a transition period with NCR-SARE’s outgoing regional director, Beth Nelson, who will retire in February 2026.
