Learn how to best support birds that provide pest control,
Farmers and ranchers can improve farm resilience by supporting local bird populations. By providing intentional on-farm habitat, producers can tap into a natural partnership where birds act as indicators of ecosystem health and provide free management benefits.
This publication provides guidance on installing and maintaining nesting structures for beneficial songbirds on farms. Developed by the Wild Farm Alliance with support from an NCR-SARE Professional Development grant, it details the requirements for successful nesting, such as food, cover, and water, and offers specific instructions on the types of nest boxes to use, their placement, and how to protect them from predators.
Wild Farm Alliance helps farmers bridge the gap between agriculture and nature by bringing wild connectivity across farming landscapes to improve biodiversity and ecosystem health.
